Dorothy “Dart” Schmalz

Dorothy “Dart” Schmalz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism in the College of Health at the University of Utah. Dr. Schmalz received her Ph.D. from Penn State University in Leisure Studies with a focus on health and sport psychology, and was a post-doctoral Research Associate in the Center for Childhood Obesity Research at Penn State. Dr. Schmalz’s research focuses on the influence of prejudice, discrimination, and stigma on the adoption of and engagement in health behaviors, and the role of nature on psychosocial wellbeing.
