WHAT IT’S ABOUT
The 2017 Outdoor Recreation Summits will convene at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort and Ruby’s Inn in Bryce Canyon National Park. These annual gatherings bring together outdoor industry leaders, county and city officials, user groups and public land managers to focus on Utah’s outdoor recreation. The northern and southern summits feature scenic settings, innovative thinking, and informative breakout sessions.
This series brings together all those that care about maintaining and improving Utah’s outstanding resources. In 2016 we took the summits around the state to better focus on regional needs. This tactic brought nearly 600 people from manufacturers to students and federal land managers to local government. The 2017 series will build upon this moment, to further expand stakeholder networks and help us improve the experience for our residents and visitors.
On October 3rd, summit attendees can take shuttles from Ruby’s the Grand and Ebenezer’s to the rim of Bryce Canyon for dinner, beginning at 6 pm. Buses will shuttle people to and from the Rim area for the pre-summit dinner.

Bryce Canyon Activities
Starting October 3rd at 3:00 pm
Mountain Biking activity: Thunder Mountain – This epic ride takes you over some fast and flowing technical singletrack through the amazing vistas surrounding Bryce Canyon National Park. The trail winds up a steep ridges, along narrow spines and through red rock hoodoos and offers amazing views around every corner! We will be doing this as a loop ride, starting from trail head near the entrance of Red Canyon. First 5 miles on a paved path, then 2 miles on dirt road and then 8 miles of singletrack. (Limit of 10) Sponsored by Adventure Utah Media.
The Red Canyon Bicycle Trail (a National Recreation Trail), running for over 8 paved miles, is appropriately named. This must-do path travels through scenic red canyons in an area referred to as “Little Bryce,” led by Betsy Byrne, RTCA and Phil Sarnoff, Bike Utah.
Meet at the shuttle parking lot at Ruby’s Inn. The Red Canyon Bicycle Trail activity group will ride into Bryce Canyon National Park on the shared-use path to Inspiration Point. Out-and-back round trip will be about 10 miles, with an elevation gain of around 500 feet to the Point. It won’t be a strenuous ride, but we want people to be aware that there’s some climbing involved. We’ll need to remind people to pick up their badges before the ride so they can enter the park. Ride will be capped at 20 people. Need a bicycle? You can rent one at Ruby’s inn. Email Lance Syrett at: firstname.lastname@example.org
