Mr. Wilson was elected to the Utah House of Representatives in 2010. He currently serves as Speaker of the House, a position to which he was elected by his peers in November 2018. As Speaker, he leads the 75 members of the Utah House and directs statewide policy projects aimed at bettering the lives of Utah citizens.
When speaking at a recent Kem C. Gardner event about the Utah Outdoor Partners Survey of Tech Sector Employees, Speaker Wilson said, “I think it’s intuitive for many of us that what draws us to stay [in Utah], or to come [to Utah], is the quality of life. And the underpinning of that — we’ve got data now to prove it — are outdoor spaces, and the recreation assets and opportunities that we have as a state. And I think it’s incumbent upon us as state leaders to protect and preserve those assets… We are not just investing in our recreation assets because it will strengthen the tourism sector of our economy. We are investing in recreation because it will strengthen every sector of our economy and the quality of life for our people.“
