Dorothy “Dart” Schmalz is an associate professor in the Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Recreation at the University of Utah. Her research agenda includes the role of recreation and leisure on the health and wellness of individuals and communities, and has a particular interest in how discrimination and stigma affects participation in health behaviors. Her work has been published in leisure, urban development, and public health journals.
