Jordan Smith

Director, Institute of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism

Jordan is the Director of the Institute of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environment and Society at Utah State University. His research focuses on: 1) understanding how the behavior of outdoor recreationists changes in response to landscapes impacted by climate change; and 2) how climate change is, and will continue to, influence the ability of land managers to provide outdoor recreation opportunities. Jordan’s research aims to provides natural resource professionals, elected officials, private industry, and the general public with a scientifically-grounded understanding of how to best manage outdoor recreation within Utah.
