Nan Groves Anderson

Rural Outreach Manager, GOED Rural Development

Nan is part of the Office of Rural Development at the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), and she works in the rural GOED location in Wayne County (200 miles from SLC!). Her focus at GOED is outreach and marketing for the Office of Rural Development and their 10 programs as well as coordinating Utah’s Business Resource Centers throughout the state.

She’s had many different jobs in the economic development/tourism industry and has learned from all of them, loved most of them, owned her own business and feels fortunate to be able to help foster economic development in the number one state for business – Utah! Nan and her husband James live in Torrey and share their home with 2 wiener dogs and a bunch of cats.

Nan was a registered lobbyist for UTIA. She has served as co-chairman, Scenic Byway 12 All-American Road Committee, served on Board of Directors of the Grand Circle Association, received the Friend of the Circle Award; served on the Six Counties Association of Governments Economic Development District Board, Board of the Utah Association of Travel Regions, and as Chairman, Huddle West Travel Show; served as Secretary of the Utah Tourism Industry Coalition, and as Vice Chairman of the Heart of the Rockies organizing committee. Named one of Utah Business Magazine’s “30 Women to Watch” in 2008. She received the Rural Honors Award in 2016 from SUU/Center for Rural Life. Nan was inducted into the Tourism Hall of Fame in 2017.
