As an elected official, Jessica has taken the lead in supporting healthy aging and social connections in her community. She has done this by starting Alpine City’s Prime Time Program and partnering with the Association for Lifelong Learning. Alpine senior citizens now meet on a regular basis, in a variety of community settings, to build strong connections with each other. Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (a debilitating autoimmune disease) in her early 30’s, Jessica realized that an active lifestyle would be a non-negotiable component of her RA treatment. As a practitioner and strong believer in the mental/physical health benefits of active living and social connections, Jessica combines her decades of experience with her municipal service to focus on improving the lives of seniors in Alpine City. A few of her outdoor recreational highlights include: Grand Canyon Rim to Rim, Red Rock Relay, White Rim MTB ride, Havasupai, Sawtooth hike, canoeing/camping Teton National Forest and daily bike rides with her dog Dodson in Alpine’s Lambert Park.
