Rebecca Gillis

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS MANAGER | OUTDOOR INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION

Rebecca Gillis is the state and local government affairs manager for Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) and is based in Boulder, Colorado. She joined OIA in August 2021 after working for former Governor John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock as a lead business development manager in their economic development agencies. Rebecca specialized in business recruitment, retention, and expansion across a number of sectors, including the outdoor industry.

On behalf the $689 billion outdoor recreation economy, Gillis works with OIA members – including manufacturers, retailers and suppliers – partner stakeholder groups, and state-level policymakers to promote OIA’s policy agenda on climate, outdoor access, public lands and waters, and strengthening state and local outdoor economies.

Raised in Golden, CO, she received her M.A. in international relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (Bologna, Italy and Washington, D.C). Rebecca has a deep passion for the outdoors, and is a firm believer in nature’s potential to heal human hearts, souls, and minds. She enjoys trail running, hiking, cross-country skiing, cycling, live music, speaking foreign languages, traveling (she’s been to six continents), and reading all the nonfiction she can get her hands on.
